Pool furniture is both a good and a bad thing to have. It is good during the warmer seasons, as it helps you enjoy your pool, but if you neglect to store it properly, or at all, you could be wasting the money you spent!
Swiming season in Texas starts around the the beginning of April, and ends sometime in September. If you have a heated pool, you can extend that time frame greatly, but you cannot do much about the temperature outside. This is where needing to store your pool, patio and deck furniture comes into play.
Storage of pool furniture can consist of simple coverings, moving to the garage or storage shed, or specialized dedicated storage buildings or enclosures made for keeping your pool furniture in like-new condition. With proper care, your pool furniture can last for years, instead of a single season.
I have made the (costly) mistake of forgetting/neglecting/being too lazy to put the pool furniture up properly, and we have gone through a few sets. Usually low-end stuff, from places like Target and Sears, but also a few pieces which were of better quality, like a nice sling-type chair we picked up at an art fair. Even with being out in the Texas sun 365 days a year, it lasted over 4 years. Quality means durability, but high price does not always equal quality.
This year, I think we will be getting some new pool furniture. Possibly some Teak pool furniture, as Teak is popular and durable. If we do actually get some Teak pool furniture, we will definately be taking better care of it than pool furniture from days-gone-past.
