I noticed that there are a lot of sites offering free music video codes for sites like myspace.com and xanga.com that have shown up in the last few months.
It used to be you had to go through the process of recording the videos, converting to a digital file, then finding space and bandwidth to host them. Nowdays, with YouTube, Google Video, MSN's offering, not to mention all the free image hosting and free video hosting sites, the storage/bandwidth is not an issue.
But where do these files come from? Some are from the record companies themselves, trying to control they media properties while still getting it into the viral hands of fans. Some are POSSIBLY rips, as I mentioned above, but probably most are legally licensed.
Free music video codes make it easy to place your favorite artist/band on your webpage. Just hope they service you use hangs around, otherwise there will be broken pages on your site…
Oh yea, and DO NOT TURN ON AUTOPLAY, PLEASE! :-)
